Welcome to Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy can enable patients to reach their full potential and to maximise their independence. Physiotherapists work with patients, carers, members of the community healthcare teams and with hospital services. Services are provided by physiotherapy staff who have a knowledge of learning disabilities and associated conditions. We provide comprehensive assessments and treatments.

  • Helping people to move easily
  • Carrying out assessments and treatments
  • Giving advice
  • Working with people that are involved in your life such as carers and health staff

Treatments we provide:

  • Individual sessions
  • Rebound therapy
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Positioning
  • Exercise groups
  • Equipment advice

A physiotherapist can work with people on their own or as part of a group. The physiotherapist can do this at your home or at a therapy centre.

Where is the service provided?

Appointments are held at the Mill Road Therapy Centre, Spinks Lane Centre in Witham, or at a local venue which is convenient for you or at your home.

How to access the service

If someone needs support from this Specialist Learning Disability team a referral form can be requested from acecic.ldahp-referrals@nhs.net

All referrals will be reviewed by a Learning Disability specialist.

We will contact the referrer and service user if we are able to support them or we will guide them to other services which may be able to meet the needs more appropriately.
