Welcome to Dietetics

The service is provided for adults with learning disabilities who live in Mid and North East Essex. The person should have an Essex GP. Children with a severe learning disability who live in North East Essex can also be seen.

A dietitian can help you to:

  • Choose foods that are healthy for you
  • Eat and drink safely
  • Help you understand how food choices affect your health

A dietitian can also:

  • Help you to become more involved in your food choices
  • Teach carers how to help you make good food choices
  • Talk to people involved in your life

A dietitian will see you on your own or in a group.

How to access the service

If someone needs support from this Specialist Learning Disability team a referral form can be requested from acecic.ldahp-referrals@nhs.net

All referrals will be reviewed by a Learning Disability specialist.

We will contact the referrer and service user if we are able to support them or we will guide them to other services which may be able to meet the needs more appropriately.
